The challenge

Making a blockchain feel like a toy, without hiding that it is a blockchain.

CryptoKitties began as a technical demonstration and became a phenomenon. The interface had to carry the fun and the lightness that made people care, while the Ethereum machinery underneath stayed honest and legible rather than papered over.

What I did

Design for delight first, and let the technology be visible where it matters.

I helped shape the web interface that brought the collectibles to life for users worldwide, focused on the playful character of the product while keeping the blockchain integration seamless underneath. The project passed twenty million dollars in trading within months and became the first decentralised application to reach mainstream attention.
